About Us

Peter Bello Foundation is a Non-governmental organization committed to spreading the message of hope and giving young people the opportunity and support they require to live their dreams. The foundation believes that greatness lies inside of everyone and it is our collective responsibility to offer support and wings to young people to soar!

Set up in remembrance of our Son and friend, Capt. Peter Kayode Bello who died in the fatal Helicopter crash on August 12th 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Foundation’s core Intervention and impact investment is in human capacity development is the Arts, Safety, Education and Mentoring

Mission

The Peter Bello Foundation has been established to provide opportunities for young people to live their dreams and reach their full potentials.

Through the engagement of the novelty of exhibitions and other platforms, Peter’s love for learning and his passion for inspiring others through the legacies of his life and works;

We aim to bring hope and personal advancement into the lives of many.

We employ the following tools to achieve our goals:

  • Establish mentoring platform to engage young people.
  • Capacity building and promotion of young people in the Arts.
  • Strengthening and mainstreaming existing safety policies and procedures.
  • Scholarship for students in Science, Technical, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM).

Inaugural Masterclass & Launch

Inaugural Masterclass & Launch The Foundation had its inaugural Photography Masterclass, certifying over 80 participants. Facilitated by award winning photographers; Mr. Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Kola Oshalusi, and Daniel Williams. Among the over 80 participants, Two won awards for mentoship and scholarship, with Kelechi Amadi-Obi Studios, Lagos to further in advanced photography training and digital editing.

Calabar Unseen | Photowalk with Nikon

In partnership with Nikon School of Photography, and the Carnival Commission, the foundation organized a photowalk to the Calabar International Conference Centre (CICC) and Tinapa. This was led by the Brand ambassador of Nikon Cameras, Mr. Uche James Iroha and other notable figures in sin photography in Cross River. Mr. Iroha is an award winning documentary photographer. This event heralded the masterclass that will be held in the coming months of the same year.

Masterclass with Nikon Photo School

Culmulating from the Photowalk to to CICC and Tinapa, in in December of 2016, the PB Foundation partnered with the Nikon School of Photography, to host a two-days free intensive tensive photography class, certifying over 100 participants. Also offering free repairs and maintainance of Nikon brand cameras and gears. Two members also benefited from specialized coaching and mentorship afterwards. This event was led by award-winning documentary photographer Mr. Uche James Iroha

Calabar Unseen | Awards Presentations

The award ceremony for the #CalabarUnseen photo walk titled was held in 2017. This became a tradition as additional photo walks to Kwa Falls and other tourism sites were held to showcase Cross River State as a premier tourism destination.

Expression Photography Exhibition

As parts of its mandate to support budding talents, the Foundation sponsored the first-ever photo exhibition in Calabar, themed Expressions, held on 13th April 2018. The exhibition featured works from six photographers drawn from those who the foundation had trained and mentored. The exhibition was well attended including the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. John Gaul Lebo and some Assembly members.

Trip to the Business of Photography (BOP)

As part of its commitment to develop young talents, the foundation sponsored six people to the maiden Edition of the Business of of Photography (BOP) conference in Lagos. Participation in events like this this is drawn from the Foundation's mission to address industry challenges and foster growth in photography and cinematography. Also to network and collaborate with stakeholders, thereby boosting in-house talents for growth.

A Trip to BOP and Photography Exhibition in Lagos

In 2019, the Foundation also sponsored 6 young photographers and gave scholarships with an all expenses paid trip to the Business of Photography Conference and participation in a hands-on advanced practical photography sessions, while two Foundation members exhibited their works at the BOP "Manage Am" Exhibition, showcasing images that highlighted Nigeria's infrastructural realities.

5th Anniversary Masterclass

As memorial for the 5th Anniversary celebration of the Foundation, In August of 2021, after the ease in COVID-19, the Foundation's alumni organized a two-day Photography and Filmmaking training class to reignite capacity development and sharpened minds. Calabar Unseen II Awards & Certifications

The Foundation hosted the second #CalabarUnseen Photo Competition, bringing together amateur and professional photographers to explore the beauty of Calabar. Three winners were selected by a panel of judges and awarded prizes and certificates.

Local Stories, Global Revenue Photography Class

In February of 2025, the Peter Bello Foundation, in partnership with the Soccer77 Foundation hosted an all-girls football tournament aimed at promoting female participation in sports.

In March, the Foundation collaborated with Sony Alpha Nigeria and the Business of Photography Network to curate a two-day visual storytelling workshop themed "Local Stories for Global Revenue." Facilitators were drawn from Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Calabar, including an alumnus of the Foundation's first masterclass. Moreso, the Foundation with VIOU Digital, a Nigerian-owned stock imaging platform, hosted the "Authentically Cross River" Photo Challenge, celebrating the state's culture, heritage, and natural beauty.
